When It All Comes To An End
I will be the first to admit that I am not good with change. I don't like it nor do I want to be the one involved with the changes, but this year is the year that everything has flipped for me. Several people in the office I work at on campus are leaving, my professors as well, friends are graduating, and others are moving away for better opportunities. This is great and all, but selfishly it all feels like everyone is leaving me and I can't pick up the pieces they've left behind fast enough. A lot to handle I know, but like I said change is hard and it brings a lot of sadness and despair along with it. I know that a lot of others can feel like this right now too especially if you're planning on leaving a company you've worked for for quite some time, graduating college, or even if you're the one that people are leaving I promise you that there is one person who will never make you feel like this nor will He make you question your relationship with Him. He's always there and His name is Jesus.
There have been so many people in my life that have experienced change and taken it like a champ, but me being me I need someone who can relate to what I am feeling, so I turn to the gospels. The disciples are people who come to mind when I think of change because in an instant there were told to drop everything and follow a man who claimed to be the savior of the world. Now I don't know about you but selling everything I own, leaving my family, and setting sail to an unknown destination would scare me so much. You have no idea where you're going but you still trust that this man is who He says He is, much like I have to trust Jesus to do what He says He is going to do. I know that He isn't going to leave me here nor is He going to leave you in a place that feels like a dumpster fire. All you have to do is be still and trust that He is God.
Change is terrifying and it makes a lot of people, including myself, so uneasy. The good thing about it though is God is closer to us now during these times than He has ever been before. He weeps with you when you're sad and He rejoices with you when you see good come from the changes. It may be a rough start but continue to purse the relationship you have with Him because He will never leave you nor forsake you, God doesn't change He just keeps on getting better. Remember this especially during those times of doubt when things around you are so dark and dreary that there are brighter days ahead my friends.
May the peace and love of God be with you always,
Leah Carpenter
