Yeah you hurt my feelings

I am a very sensitive person. I don't like people to make fun of me or tell me what to do because I believe that I know what is best at all times for me, which I know in the back of my mind is a complete lie. However, these people really tear me down and just make my entire day bad because I'm constantly questioning what gives them the right to say this to me or simply why do they have to be mean to me. The real point I want to make is that they're not hurt by what they said to you, you are the only one who is hurt. Now I'm not saying that you don't have a right to be hurt, I'm saying you decide what gets to hurt you in this life. You have the option to let things roll off your back or harbor onto things that just simply do not define you as a person. People are people and they're going to say rude things that probably shouldn't be said but don't let it ruin your day because it is just not worth it at all.

No matter what someone says to you, know that the word of God defines who you are and according to His standards you are a beautiful creation that is flawed by sin but made whole through Jesus. Like Ephesians 4:32 says "Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you." I know that words can hurt a lot worse than most physical pain because it's a pain that no earthly being can treat. God is a God of compassion and tenderheartedness and He is near to the brokenhearted (Psalms 34:18). He is your ultimate healer who makes everything feel better with just one touch. So when you feel like just crying in your room turn to the Lord and let Him show you the love that a lot of people on this earth lack or just simply can't give you like He can.

This post is not to say that you won't be hurt again or that times will never get hard. What I'm trying to tell you is to have hope that one day He will wipe every tear away and every word, comment, or story that hurts you will be forgotten because the beauty of the Lord in heaven can mask every brutal thing that this world will throw at you. God put you here for a reason and maybe these mean people are just going through it and just need some love, but don't let this sadness or anger that you have against them boil up inside you until it defines you. Give it to the Lord, talk it out, or show them what real true compassion might look like. I hope that this helps and I pray that you all would know that nothing on this earth can define you no matter how loud some people may shout it.

May the peace and love of God be with you always,
Leah Carpenter
