Good Things Are in store for you
As I enter into my very last week of school I can't help but think about how so much is going to change in the next two years. I will go from saying "Hi I'm Leah your student nurse" to "Hi I'm Leah your nurse", kind of crazy that you become an adult so quickly, but I guess so many adults still don't know what they want to do or where God will take them in their lives. Imposter syndrome or questioning can hit you at any moment of the day and ultimately tries to ruin the plans that God has for your life. The devil makes you forget who you are through Christ sometimes and often it can be hard to regain your footing after you've been beat down for so long. Yesterday, I got some really sad news that my yoga instructor at school had cancer. She is 36, eats healthy, exercises, and basically does everything right, so why did this happen to her? So many questions can be brought about by the devil like this because the world doesn't give us answers for why things happen. However, the beauty of God is that He uses each portion of our lives to preach His word and to understand just how good He really is.
I think about the fishermen in the boat on the Sea of Galilee. They didn't believe that Jesus could fill their nets nor that He really was the Son of God until their boat was about to tip over because He was faithful in His promises. Sometimes I wish that God would perform miracles just like this in today's world but there are so many little miracles that I miss throughout the day that have just the same affect as filling up fishing nets. When a baby is born, when you have a job to go to everyday, or even that you are alive and breathing is a miracle to celebrate. So many people miss these things, including myself, because we're so focused on what will come next and how can we be more successful, more rich, and more powerful. This is what our world teaches us but it shouldn't be what Christians focus on. Live in the present because God still has work for you to do right here right now.
There are opportunities that are missed everyday to preach the gospel. I know that many times I would rather sit in the corner and study instead of talking to the girl at the table all by herself. However, these are the opportunities to pursue the callings of God and expand the Gospel so we can make Heaven crowded. For those people who are doubting the road ahead, don't question for a second that God isn't going to use you, that He forgot about you, or that His plan is never going to work. I have thought many times that there is no way I am going to be a nurse, no way I can be a Christian in today's world, much less preach the gospel to people around my campus and community. Friends I can tell you right now I am doing all three because God is faithful and His plan is better than anything you could imagine. Don't give up on Him and I can assure you that He will never give up on you. He has your "ducks in a row";).
May the peace and love of God be with you always,
Leah Carpenter
