Don't Worry About What Hasn't Happened
Another school year is about to be upon all of us students and I can tell you that I don't want to go back just as much as I did last year. It's not the people on campus or anything to do with living there, it only has to do with being overworked every week and not knowing if it will even be worth it. I feel like a lot of things in life are like this, whether it's your 9-5 job, raising kids, or even getting out of bed in the morning sometimes we have to question, "is it really even worth it today?". Well on the way to work this morning I was listening to Oak Trees and I was so down and tired and really just wanted to get back in the bed, but the song details what you'll be doing in heaven. It talks about dancing and singing and going to the place where love can't die. This is what God brings out in us, joy, not fear about things that are going to happen tomorrow, but joy that He has overcome the world so there is nothing to be afraid of now.
The reason why I chose this title is that I am a worry wort and I would beg to say that most people in this country would be the same as well. Life piles up and too many decisions are required of us each day but the one decision that we as Christians should always make is the decision to follow Jesus. All He asks of us is to wake up and say yes. You aren't required to talk to Him or read His word, all He wants is you. I think it's such a beautiful thing because we complain about being too busy for everybody, especially Jesus, but the main thing behind Christianity is talking to God doesn't have to take long nor does it have to consume your entire day. Although all of us I know wish we could have that much devotion, we're human and things happen but being devoted to following a Christian lifestyle is hard, but we can still attempt to live it out every day of our lives by trusting that the Lord will keep His promises and do what He says He is going to do.
The pre-school anxiety starts to creep in on me and maybe for you it's pre-work anxiety or maybe a test result is coming in soon but the Lord tells us in Matthew 6:34 "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.". I know that this is probably easier said than done but one thing I have heard over and over again recently is "I know where I'm going". Friends I want to ask you today if you know where you're going. Do you know beyond a shadow of a doubt that the Lord is going to welcome you home through the pearly gates when times comes to an end. I personally know that I fretted over this question for years but the peace God gives when you truly accept this decision is unlike anything else you will ever experience. The worries of tomorrow won't matter when we're in heaven and although we have to get up for work again tomorrow I want to remind you that the peace and love of God will be there with you. If you don't know what any of this feels like and want to, please don't hesitate to reach out, I'm always here for people in need of the love of the Father.
May the peace and love of God be with you always,
Leah Carpenter
