A Grandmother's Love
My grandmother was a wonderful lady and I’m sure most of you feel the same way about your grandmothers as well. She never failed to make me laugh or take me to Walmart to buy a useless toy that I wouldn’t use after the novelty wore off. In September of 2012 she went home to be with the Lord and it absolutely broke my heart. Time is a thief and it definitely did not give me enough time with her. That being said, there are so many things that I remember about her that I will never forget. She spoiled me rotten and every single time I went over to her house I felt that love and joy that I couldn’t get from my parents or sister, only from sweet little Iris Lucille.
A grandmother’s love reminders me of a blind love. It doesn’t matter what you’ve done or where you’ve gone, they’re still going to be standing there with either a bandaid, a hug, or a little Debbie cake:). They want you and only you, they don’t care that you’re not perfect because you are their grandchild and the only thing that is required of you is to be there. So many times I’ll see people who have passed away and their children or grandchildren feel so guilty because they never spent time with them or they never showed them how much they loved them. It’s so heartbreaking. Think about this, how pitiful and sad is it when people call themselves a Christian but they never show God how much they love Him or never spend time with Him while you’re here on this earth. God literally sent His only Son for you to die. In John 3:16 it says that He loved you so much He wanted to save you, the only way He could do that was to send His only Son so He said “so be it”. Now some of y’all might be angry with me, but honestly! This life is all that you get! This is the life and only life where you have the opportunity to share the love of Christ and build that mansion for yourself in Heaven. Don’t you want to make God proud while you’re here? I struggle with being a people pleaser but I constantly have to remind myself that the only person I need to please is the Lord himself. The Bible is so contradictory to modern day culture, don’t fall into the trap of just going with the flow and being okay with everything that this world is okay with because most of these things are not good. Be on guard and stand your ground and show others how much you love God through your actions and words.
It‘a just like a grandmothers love, you can never go see them, never hangout with them, or never show them how much you love them and they will still be there and love you unconditionally. God loves you so much, I can’t express that enough! Spend time with Him, love Him, because this is the only chance you get to make a difference in this life. Don’t turn a blind eye to Him because you never want to be regretting that you could have done so much more with the short life you have on earth.
May the peace and love of God be with you always,
Leah Carpenter
